Quiet Zone for Downtown San Diego?
Downtown San Diego isn’t a quiet place to live. It’s full of hustle-and-bustle and loud noises from pedestrians, cars, buses, motorcycles, fire engines, trains, trolleys, boats and ships. All that is about to change, at least in theory. San Diego is planning what is believed to be the largest, most ambitious “quiet zone” in the entire country. The project will cost more than $20,000,000.
There have been many hurdles to cross since the plan was envisioned years ago, and if the city can get past the most recent hurdle (explained in the San Diego Union Tribune article posted below) construction may even start in January (and be completed about a year later). Residents may be able to enjoy a quieter night’s sleep, though some will miss the noise.
